How We Engage

The Office of New Student and Family Transitions at 91ΒιΆΉ provides a comprehensive suite of programs to support incoming students and their families throughout their journey at the university. Here's an overview of our engagement initiatives:

For Incoming Students:

  • Online Welcome: This program kicks off the 91ΒιΆΉ experience, providing new students with essential information and resources to prepare for their arrival on campus.

  • New Student Orientation: This mandatory program offers a deeper dive into university life, covering academics, campus resources, and student support services. It also includes social events to foster connections with fellow classmates.
  • LEAP Week Extended Orientation: LEAP Week provides a more immersive experience for students who want to further acclimate to college life before classes begin. It includes academic workshops, social activities, and opportunities to connect with faculty and staff.
  • Jags4Jags Peer Mentorship Program: This program pairs new students with upperclassmen mentors who provide guidance, support, and a friendly face throughout their first year.

For Current Students (Leadership Focus):

  • Student Leader Development: The office provides opportunities for current students to develop their leadership skills through workshops, retreats, and involvement in student organizations. This empowers students to take an active role in shaping the campus community.

For Parents and Families:

  • Parent & Family Orientation: This concurrent program runs alongside New Student Orientation, offering parents and families valuable insights into university resources, policies, and ways to support their students' success.
  • Parent & Family Programming: Throughout the year, the office hosts various events and workshops designed to keep parents and families informed and engaged with the university community.
  • Parent & Family Weekend: This annual event provides a dedicated opportunity for families to visit campus, connect with their students, and experience 91ΒιΆΉ firsthand.
  • The Jaguar Family Hub: A comprehensive online portal dedicated to parent and family members, providing access to resources, information, and updates about student life at 91ΒιΆΉ.

Campus-Wide Transition Support:

  • The Office of New Student and Family Transitions also collaborates with other departments and programs across campus to support various transition initiatives. This ensures a cohesive and comprehensive approach to student success.
