Field Experience

Field experiences are a critical component of your teacher preparation program, providing valuable opportunities to apply your knowledge, develop your skills, and gain real-world experience in diverse classroom settings.

This page offers essential information and resources for students completing field experience requirements including details about background checks, liability insurance, forms, contact information, and other important guidance to help you navigate your field experience successfully.

EDUC 2110/2120/2130 and SPED 3002/5002

Field Experience Requirements

In order to be placed in labs you must:

  1. Successfully complete a criminal background check:
Due to the sensitive nature of working with children in a public/private school system, a background check is required for all students who are enrolled in an education class. The  must be upload to D2L course.
  2. Submit proof of Tort liability insurance:
Liability insurance must be purchased prior to beginning the first education class. This liability insurance will be needed for the duration of your education program. Therefore, we recommend that you purchase enough years of coverage to extend until your expected graduation date. Liability insurance can be purchased by joining SPAGE or SGAE/NEA (websites are listed below). Proof of liability insurance must be uploaded to D2L course.

For more information on the Tort Liability Insurance, contact:

Field Experience Coordinator at 706-667-4109
