Sexual Assault Services

We are committed to providing a multidisciplinary, coordinated response for victims of sexual assault.

If you are a victim of sexual assault, please call us directly or the Sexual Assault Resource Center’s 24/7 hotline at 706-724-5200. First and foremost know that you have options for your care and that SHS can provide support, confidentiality and assistance with your next steps.

We are a member of 91Â鶹’s Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), a multidisciplinary team dedicated to raising awareness of sexual assault prevention and response.

Medical Forensic Examination

For Sexual Assault

  • General Physical Examination
  • Collection of Forensic Evidence (Sexual Assault Kit) *(if patient chooses this option)
    • Time frame of evidence collection is 120 hours for adolescent/adult patients in Georgia.
    • Can include photography of injuries, collection of swabs and clothing for DNA
  • Evaluation/Treatment for STI’s
  • Evaluation/Treatment for Pregnancy (pregnancy test and emergency contraception options if needed/applicable)
  • Discharge/Safety Planning/Follow-up Services
  • Counseling/Mental Health/Psychiatry referrals
  • Assistance with prescriptions if needed
  • Follow up medical care and lab work
