PATH-5016: Anatomic Pathology

Dr. Bruker

Location : Laboratory Services, VAMC

Enrollment : 2 maximum

Prerequisites : Phase II

Duration : 1 month

Months Offered : All

Goals:To help students to perform a number of basic anatomic pathology techniques and apply
clinical judgment commensurate with their medical knowledge.

Objectives : Learn basic diagnosis through surgical and autopsy divisions in pathology.

Activities :

â–   Perform autopsy and find basic clinical pathologic correlations.

â–   Participate in processing and examination of surgical pathology and cytology specimens.

â–   Apply clinical interpretation and medical judgment in such examination.

â–   Attend conferences and lectures.

Assessment : Evaluation based on the following skills:

â–   Gross examination of surgical specimens.Dr. Toscano

â–   Microscopic examination of slides.

â–   Case presentation.

â–   Professionalism and attendance.

Note: An oral presentation is mandatory for performance excellence.
