The NDLS⢠courses are a series of educational programs designed to better prepare
health care professionals and emergency response personnel for mass casualty events.
The courses stress a comprehensive, āall-hazardsā approach to assist health care professionals
respond to disasters and other public health emergencies.
History: The faculty at the Medical College of Georgia at 91Āé¶¹, in collaboration
with the University of Georgia, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at
Dallas, and Texas A&M School of Public Health created The National Disaster Life Support
(NDLSā¢) courses. The Center of Operational Medicineās office of Disaster Medicine
is the National Training Center East for the foundation. The National Disaster Life
Support Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation that has been established to oversee
and administer the NDLS program and is co-located with the Center of Operational Medicine
at 91Āé¶¹.
